This Is The Problem When Falsehood Is Presented Incessantly, It Begins To Appear As Truth

Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

This coming election is no longer about politics. It’s all about a particular system of values and principles. It’s about our ethical responsibility to vote for a president who values unity and progress; who has the confidence and courage to stand alone and has the compassion to listen to others; who translates big vision into reality and who stands for lifting the Philippines up. It’s about making Philippines great again.

I do not write about Bongbong Marcos because I want to. I’ve never aspired to achieve the label of “political writer,” and whenever I think of such a person, my mind conjures up a paltry image of a lonely printed publication dweeb, so brainwashed by the robotic propaganda just to undermine the enemy’s resistance or to dissuade neutrals from joining the other side or encourage friends and others. Writing about BBM isn’t the first thing I want to do, but when I see political criticisms thrown on him just to win a fight or stories that are tailored to change people’s belief or to manipulate their actions, I jump on the opportunity to stand up to it in any way possible. Because I refuse to remain silent. I’ll be upfront. I feel, for many reasons that on some level I do not have the right to be writing this. I’m sorry but I’m seeing our country catch afire and this is the only little thing I could do to douse the flames.

There are a lot of BBM’s haters in the Philippines or in the world. He gets a lot of critics, and there are many folks who roll their eyes whenever they hear “next President in the Philippines.” I, however, am not one of them. His wisdom, energy and a strong vision for the country’s future are on full display. Say what you will about him, but that man has some kind of dreams for his country…of providing ‘unifying leadership’ and a strong vision for the country’s future. So, no matter how many significant criticisms he has ever received or are still receiving for the instances of historical denialism, his alleged trivializing of the human rights violations and some other criticisms that have been leveled at him like: for being unapologetic for human rights violations, ill-gotten wealth during his father’s administration and the economic plunder that took place during his father’s administration, I will never be swayed by these haters and I’m proud to say that. Does this strike you as narcissistic? Either way, it doesn’t matter, my friends.

Despite criticisms, (casting their cause in the role of hero and BBM in the role of the villain,) giving him bad name, twisting facts to suit people’s interest and impress others, he is still brave to remain optimistic- not naïve, but boldly envisioning something positive that leads him holds a commanding lead in the race to succeed President Rodrigo Duterte. And I’m so proud of him. Of course, everyone should have a privilege to feel the confidence and trust that cannot be invalidated by the opinion of any other person.

Stay kind.
